From babies and toddlers to couples and even your four-legged family members, Halloween Mini Sessions are a fun way to celebrate the season no matter your age.

When most people hear "Halloween Mini Sessions," they usually picture little kids dressed as pumpkins, princesses, or superheroes. While I definitely photograph plenty of little ones, they're actually just one small part of who books these sessions each year. Last fall, I photographed babies, toddlers, siblings, couples, and even a few adorable dogs. It reminded me that Halloween isn't just for kids. It's a fun season for just about everyone.

Little Kids Will Always Steal the Show

Let's be honest. Tiny costumes are hard to beat. Whether it's a baby dressed as a bear or a preschooler who insists on being their favorite character, these are the costumes you'll laugh about for years. Most kids only wear them once or twice before they outgrow them or they're tucked away in a keepsake box. Taking a few minutes to document that stage is always worth it.

Older Kids Love Having Fun With It Too

Just because your kids are getting older doesn't mean they're done celebrating Halloween.

I've had siblings come dressed in coordinating costumes, kids proudly show off something they helped put together themselves, and families who simply wanted updated photos while everyone was together. Sometimes all it takes is giving them permission to be a little silly for twenty minutes.

They're Not Just for Families

One of my favorite surprises last year was seeing couples book a session together. Some dressed up, some kept it simple, and they all left with fun photos that felt a little different than a traditional fall session. If you're looking for something seasonal without committing to a full family session, Halloween Minis can be a great excuse to do something fun together.

Yes, Your Dog Is Welcome Too

If your dog is part of the family, I'd love to include them. A cute bandana, a simple costume, or even just their happy face next to a pile of pumpkins always makes me smile. Just make sure they're comfortable around new people and other families, since these sessions are held outdoors.

Keeping the Focus on You

One thing I love about my Halloween setup is that it stays simple. I use pumpkins, warm fall touches, faux candles, and this year I'm planning to add baskets of fresh apples to bring in even more of that cozy fall feel. The decorations help set the scene, but they never take attention away from the people in the photos. Whether you're two years old or bringing your golden retriever along, you're always the focus.

A Fun Tradition to Look Back On

Every year looks a little different. The costumes change. Kids grow. Families welcome new babies. Pets get a little grayer around the muzzle. That's what makes these sessions so much fun to look back on. If you've been thinking about celebrating Halloween with something a little different this year, my outdoor Halloween Mini Sessions are now open for booking. Whether you're bringing your little ones, your spouse, or your favorite four-legged family member, I'd love to help you capture this season in a way that's simple, relaxed, and full of personality.
