Fall Mini Session in Oak Glen With a Family Close to My Heart - Oak Glen, CA

Every once in a while, a session feels like a full-circle moment. This family right here? I’ve known them since they were just starting out as a brand-new family of three. And now—fast forward a handful of years—they're a sweet, busy, beautiful family of six.

When mom reached out to book one of my fall mini sessions last October, I was so excited to have them back in front of my lens. Knowing their youngest wouldn’t last too long with a full-length session, she figured a 20-minute mini would be the perfect fit. And she was absolutely right.

We met in Oak Glen, tucked just north of Yucaipa, surrounded by apple trees and soft afternoon light. It’s one of my favorite places for fall sessions because the textures and tones just naturally work with the season.

Mom styled her crew so beautifully. Rich, earthy tones that worked perfectly with the orchard and didn’t feel forced at all. We wandered the rows, found a few great spots, and captured that sweet, wild energy that comes with raising four little ones.

There’s something kind of magical about mini sessions. We move fast, we keep things light, and we capture so much in such a short window. When kids are little, that’s honestly all you need.

5 Reasons Mini Sessions Just Work

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the idea of getting your whole family photo-ready, a mini session might be the answer. Here’s why:

Short and sweet: 20 minutes long, which is perfect for little ones with short attention spans that aren't shy and ready to get to having fun.

Less pressure: It’s more about connection than perfection. We keep things moving and fun. let's get the typical Christmas card shot, but also all those sweet moments in-between.

Seasonal magic: Fall minis give you that golden light, those rich colors, and cozy vibes, all in a beautiful outdoor setting. Temps are usually cooler and more comfortable for outdoor shoots.

Budget-friendly: Minis are a great option if you’re not ready for a full session but still want updated photos for your home or for your yearly Christmas cards. And you always have the option to upgrade your gallery and purchase all images delivered in case you want more.

Great for busy families: If your schedule’s tight, this is a quick and easy way to make sure your memories get documented

Sometimes, less really is more. We capture real connection, a whole lot of love, and plenty of genuine smiles without stretching anyone too thin.

Sessions like this one are a big reason I love offering fall minis. They’re simple, relaxed, and ideal for families who want updated photos without a ton of fuss. Just enough time to make memories—and keep everyone happy.

If you're thinking about booking one this year, my fall mini sessions release to my email list on August 1st. These are limited spots at hand-picked locations, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

If you're not already on my list, now’s the perfect time to sign up (link to sign up below). I’d love to help you capture your crew this fall.

With love & grace,

Heidi
