Cloudy Skies & Puppy Eyes
Let me tell you about the cutest little ball of fluff I got to photograph recently — her name is Mocha, and she’s a sweet-as-can-be Shih Tzu with a serious love for treats and snuggly blankets. 🐾
I’ve actually known Mocha’s human mom for over 20 years (crazy, right?!). Over the years, I’ve had the honor of photographing her family — her child, her previous pups, and now little Mocha, too. These kinds of long-term client relationships just fill my heart.
We met up on a chilly March day for a spring pet session in Redlands, CA. The skies were cloudy, and the air had that “still winter but trying to be spring” kind of vibe. Even though it was colder than expected, the grass and bushes were lush and green — classic Redlands in spring.
Mocha didn’t mind the weather one bit. She was more than happy to pose as long as the treat supply kept coming — and trust me, her mom came prepared. 😄
To keep her extra cozy, we set up a sweet little ceramic bath basin lined with a soft, furry blanket. She looked like a little princess tucked in there, and honestly, she owned every second of it.
This session was such a fun reminder that pet photography doesn’t have to be fussy or perfect. Sometimes it's a little cloudy, a little chilly, but when you’ve got a camera, some treats, and a pup like Mocha — it’s all magic.
If you’re in Redlands or the Inland Empire and thinking about booking a pet session (or adding your pup to a family shoot!), I’d love to help you capture all the cuteness. These fur babies are part of the family, and they deserve a little spotlight too. 💛
Let’s plan something sweet — treats included.
With love & grace,
Heidi
