A Look at a Fall Mini Session With Me - Beaumont, CA

If you've ever wondered what actually happens during one of my fall mini sessions, I thought I'd let you peek at a recent one. This family met me in Beaumont at one of my fall locations, and honestly, this spot is pretty magical around sunset. It's lush and full of plant life, with just the right amount of golden light peeking through the trees.
And because we only have 20 minutes, I like to make those minutes count.
At the beginning of the session, everyone is still fresh, so I usually start with the photo where everyone is looking right at me. You know, the one you can already picture on the Christmas card.
Then we loosen things up. We move through different combinations and poses: the whole family, mom and dad, mom with the kids, dad with the kids, siblings, and plenty of little moments in between. If there's time and the kids are into it, we might play a quick little game or two. But with a mini, I don't promise a whole itinerary of activities. We keep it simple, relaxed, and moving.
And if a child is shy? That's okay. I'll meet them where they are and try to bring them into the moment without forcing it. Sometimes the best photos happen when we stop trying so hard to make a child "perform."
By the time we're finished, a 20-minute session can create quite a variety. For this family, I delivered a gallery of around 30–40 images, even though their mini includes 10 images of their choice. They can choose their favorites, add more, or take the whole gallery home.
But more than anything, I want you to notice how the photos feel. The connection. The little expressions. The way everyone looks at each other. The warm evening light. The photos that make you stop for a second because they look like your people.
That's really what I'm after with these sessions. Not perfect posing. Not everyone behaving perfectly. Just a little piece of your family, exactly as they are right now, tucked into some beautiful fall light.
