Senior Session at a Historic Bridge in Highland, California – Saying Goodbye to Childhood, and Hello to What’s Next
Highland, Ca
Let me tell you about a recent senior session that hit me right in the heart.
We met up in Highland, California — right in the Inland Empire — at this gorgeous, well-known historic bridge that’s kind of a hidden gem if you’re local. It’s one of my favorite spots to shoot because it has this timeless, rustic feel. Perfect for a session that marks such a big milestone.
This guy? Total standout. A proud high school athlete, heading off to university this fall. Firstborn. Oldest son. The one who's made his family beam with pride for years — and now he’s stepping into a brand-new chapter.
His mom came along for the shoot (which I love, by the way — always bring mom). You could just feel how proud she was watching her son — this young man she raised — show up with confidence and calm. But every now and then, I’d catch her eyes welling up a bit. She kept it together, but it was one of those beautiful, bittersweet moments. Like... how did we get here already?
We actually had to reschedule the session the first time because a wild, unexpected rainstorm rolled in (thanks, SoCal 😅), but this family didn’t miss a beat. They were so flexible and trusted me to make it all work — and I’m so glad they did.
Because this session? It was magic. The kind of shoot where you can tell the photos are going to mean more and more as time goes on. It wasn’t just about capturing his “senior year look” — it was about freezing this season of life before everything changes.
If you’re a mom of a senior — or almost-senior — and you’re feeling that tug of time flying by too fast, just know… I see you. I get it. And I’d be honored to help you bottle this moment up with images that tell your family’s story.
There’s still time this summer to schedule your Inland Empire senior session.
With love & grace,
Heidi
