What to Expect at Your Fall Mini Session
Fall mini sessions are one of my favorite times of the year. The light is golden, the air feels cooler, and families from all over the Inland Empire come together for quick sessions that capture the season perfectly. If you’ve booked one of my minis in Redlands, Yucaipa, Beaumont, or Oak Glen, here’s exactly what you can expect and how to prepare for the best experience possible.
Arrive Early and Be Ready to Go
Fall minis are short and sweet at just 20 minutes long, which means we need to maximize every second. Plan to arrive early so you have time to park, get settled, and make sure everyone is ready before your scheduled slot begins. Sessions move quickly, so the more prepared you are, the smoother it will feel.
Directions and Parking
The week of your session, I’ll send you a Google Maps link with the exact address and details on where to park. I always recommend using Google Maps over other mapping services to avoid any hiccups with the location. Once you arrive, you can text me and, if I’m able, I’ll walk out to meet you. Sometimes there’s a short walk to the photo spot, so keep that in mind when choosing footwear. When I reach out, I'll give you all the deets so don't worry.
Keep Kids Camera-Ready
To get the best photos, arrive with your kids’ faces clean and hair brushed. Bring a small comb or brush along for last-minute touch-ups, as well as wipes to handle any smudges or sneezes. Try to avoid giving kids messy snacks right before the session. If bribery is needed, promise a treat or activity after the photos instead.
Plan Outfits Ahead of Time
Coordinated colors always photograph beautifully, especially neutrals and earth tones that complement fall. Avoid neon or overly bright shades since they can reflect on skin and be difficult to edit. Logos or busy graphics are also distracting in photos. Lay everything out the night before so you don’t feel rushed on the day of your session.
What Photos We’ll Capture
During your fall mini session, I’ll always aim for a classic “everyone looking at me and smiling” image. Beyond that, we’ll mix in a few interactive moments, like walking together or laughing as a family. While we don’t have as much variety as a full-length session, you’ll still receive a well-rounded gallery that feels authentic and timeless.
Keep Expectations Realistic
These minis are designed to be fun, fast, and stress-free. They’re perfect for annual family photos, holiday cards, or simply updating your gallery wall. Remember, kids don’t need to be perfect. The best images often come from little in-between moments that unfold naturally when everyone relaxes.
Energy Matters
Kids feed off their parents’ energy. If you arrive calm and ready to enjoy the experience, they’re more likely to cooperate and have fun. Fall minis fly by, so come with a cheerful mindset and trust that I’ll guide you through everything.
Fall mini sessions in the Inland Empire are the perfect way to capture your family during one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. With a little preparation, from arriving early to planning outfits ahead, you’ll set yourself up for a gallery of images you’ll love.
With love & grace,
Heidi
